Orthopedic case of the week – April 2, 2022

72 year old female with 2 month history of notable swelling on top of the right shoulder. She has no pain and no limitations in function. The swelling has not been changing in size. X-rays showed arthritis at the acromioclavicular(AC) joint. Ultrasound confirmed a large AC joint cyst. She desired to have it drained! I removed 50cc!!! That’s an AC joint record for me!

Notable swelling over the AC joint. 50cc thick fluid removed. After drainage, cyst is 95% gone.
