You are an active weekend warrior. Your ideal fun weekend would include two hours of tennis, some running or golfing 18 holes — at least it did before a meniscus tear made it painful to simply walk most days.
You do a Google search and find out that you have three non-surgical treatment options for your torn meniscus:
- R.I.C.E. (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation)
- Anti-inflammatory medications
- Physical therapy
But there is a new fourth option called “Regenerative Cellular Therapy” that can speed up your recovery and help you avoid knee surgery.
Regenerative Cellular Therapy
Regenerative cellular therapy is a non-surgical procedure that repurposes a person’s own fat cells to provide cushioning and lubrication to an injured knee.
In addition to cushioning and lubrication, the fat tissue – taken from a person’s own belly region using liposuction – contains the body’s natural healing cells and properties which can stimulate healing and meniscus tissue growth.
Regenerative cellular therapy is especially useful when other non-surgical treatments have been unsuccessful. Steve Meyers, MD is a fellowship trained sports medicine physician that has been safely performing regenerative procedures in Fort Worth since 2007. Many of his patients come to him for a second opinion after they have been told their only option is surgery.
The process begins by harvesting adipose tissue (fat) from your own body using liposuction from your belly region. The adipose tissue is ALWAYS HARVESTED FROM YOU, never from another person or tissue bank.
Dr. Meyers then processes the tissue and injects the fat cells into your damaged knee. This is done the same day, without general anesthesia, and is precisely guided by ultrasound to deliver the cells directly into the damaged area of the joint.
The result is a knee that has the necessary cushion and lubrication to help the meniscus begin some level of healing.
Using regenerative cellular therapy, Dr. Meyers has helped patients from all over the country get back on their feet enjoying movement without pain — the same goal as surgical knee replacement but without the scalpel.
Adipose tissue is ALWAYS HARVESTED FROM YOU, never from another person or tissue bank.

Pain Free After Meniscus Tear Without Reconstructive Surgery
54 Year Old Back to Dancing After Years of Debilitating Knee Arthritis
“My visits are always pleasant and professional. There is a great team in place here and I have full confidence in Dr.Meyers to evaluate my health issues and provide the best solution going forward to help me have a better quality of life. Many thanks to all who have served me here!”
“I had been struggling with debilitating foot and ankle pain for nearly a year. A previous physician wanted to do surgery. I came to Dr. Meyers and he and his team were able to treat my injuries conservatively. He listens and works to find the root cause instead of just treating the symptoms. I am now pain free and back to my normal activities.”
“Dr. Meyers is a wonderful doctor. He’s personable, easy to understand, and truly concerned about the patient’s concerns.”
“Had a wonderful experience. Knees feel brand new without surgery.”
“Dr Meyers did stem cell injection in my right shoulder that had a small rotator cuff tear. The procedure went very well and recovery from that was short and mostly pain free. After 4 weeks of recovery, I started PT to the shoulder which was very well handled by David, giving me back full range of motion with no pain.”
“I felt that Dr Meyer was very personable and charming. He was very knowledgeable about his field of study. And he set a plan of action for my treatment. He was honest about results and seemed to care about my health.”
“Doctor Meyers explained the process step by step. He has an excellent bed side manner. I will recommend him to others.”
“Dr. Meyers respected my 90 year old mom. She spoke directly to her, and and gave her the respect that she was able to understand. Very much appreciated this kind of treatment.”
“Dr. Meyers took time to answer all our questions and concerns. We didn’t feel rushed and would highly recommend.”
“Dr. Meyers and his staff are very professional and caring! I am confident that I chose the right practice and medical team to help me get my knee back on track!”

My Practice Philosophy
When I meet a new patient who is curious about how I practice Non-Operative Orthopedics, I tell them that in everything I do, from the first visit through follow up, I will treat them how I would want to be treated myself. As a former competitive athlete and an active adventure seeker today, I know first hand how much life can change with an injury or degenerative issue. My goal is to help your body recover from your injury, avoid re-injury and get you back into the game of life as soon as possible.
